Jam Crust Skewers – My Fussy Eater

If your child won’t eat bread crusts then try this hack to turn those crusts into a fun snack instead!

Got a crust hating child? Then this little food hack is for you!

Rather than throwing away those crusts you can turn them into a fun sweet snack that the kids will love!

The first step is to remove the crust from the bread.

Make a cut in one corner of the slice of bread and then cut all the way around the inside of the crust, separating the bread from the crust.

Next, spread some jam on the inside of the crust.

I’ve used raspberry jam here for any kind of jam will work just fine.

Roll the crust up tightly into a pinwheel and then insert a wooden skewer into the bottom of the pinwheel, pushing up through the crust.

This will hold it all together while baking.

Spread a little butter onto the top. This will help to make it lovely and golden brown.

Then bake at 180c fan for 10 minutes.

The result is a really fun snack and the kids will have no idea that you have re-purposed their unwanted crust!

The wooden skewer is obviously very sharp so be sure to remove it for younger children.
